Queensland buyers have strongly supported lighter cattle at the November Yea weaner sale, while local buyers have taken home heavier pens of "fantastic" quality.
Today's sale at Yea offered 1221 weaner steers and 396 weaner heifers.
Nutrien Yea branch manager Tyson Bush said beef producers were "hedging their bets" at today's sale, which set a positive tone ahead of the next Yea weaner sale on January 5.
"We have this one to hedge our bets and we're six-to-eight weeks away from our January sale," he said.
