Cattle prices soared by as much as $300 a head for some classes of stock at the Yea store sale on Friday.

Vendors, many of whom have held on to cattle through tough conditions this year, were rewarded with a sizeable price lift compared to last month's sale.

Nutrien was the sole agency to yard stock with approximately 1950 head offered, and a number of larger feature lines.

"It was a fantastic result for the people that have held on," Nutrien Yea branch manager Tyson Bush said.
