Cattle Sale Hastings, New Zealand – 20th May 2026
While travelling in New Zealand last week, we attended a cattle sale to see how it compared to the Yea Saleyards and found our local yards were miles ahead both in the facility and selling process. The NZ yards still had all concrete flooring in all pens. The Cattle were all sold through a central undercover pen which was also the weigh pen, with buyers sitting in tiered undercover seating. The bidding process was very slow with much time taken up with a few phone and online

Whole Farm Planning course EOI now open for fire impacted landholders
Expressions of Interest for Whole Farm Planning courses are now open for landholders impacted by the recent bushfires. A Whole Farm Plan can help design a farm that is easier to manage, more productive and offers environmental benefits. This EOI will be used to identify groups of landholders to run courses. Yesterday’s hay convoy was met with an overwhelming show of support, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who turned out in the heat, helped, waved, cheered and made it so special.
