Vendors at the Yea store sale on Friday struck while the iron was "red hot", with 300-500 kilogram steers the stars of the show.
Victorian Livestock & Property director Ryan Sargeant said these steers, particularly those in the 400-500kg weight bracket, sold to increased competition.
"For 300-500kg steers, it was red hot, and there were good pens of them," Mr Sargeant said.
"Especially the feedlotters, they were [buying] 400-500kg, and it was bang, they all wanted them."
