Smaller Yea yarding offers insight into winter cattle market trends

Numbers at the Yea store cattle sale dropped sharply this week, after previous large yardings drew down the number of stock available.


Agents from Nutrien, Alex Scott & Staff, Victorian Livestock & Property (VLP) and Elders yarded 1317 steers, heifers and cows and calves.


That was down significantly on last week's autumn grown and weaner feature sale, where more than 4000 cattle went under the hammer.


The top-priced steers made $3100 a head, while heifers reached $2580.
