The smallest of the state's major cattle sales last week achieved the best returns.
Four store cattle sales at Kyneton, Yea, Leongatha and Bairnsdale were held across Victoria last week.
Collectively, the sales yarded just over 8600 cattle across three days.
The Kyneton sale on Wednesday was the smallest sale of the week, yarding just under 1000 head.
However, the sale's quality autumn-drop weaners achieved the best cents a kilogram returns of the week, with an impressive 719c/kg top reached for lightweight steers under 200 kilograms.
