Cattle prices were "above expectations" at Yea on Friday in a yarding that was double the size of last month's sale.
Nutrien, Elders, Victorian Livestock and Property (VLP) and Alex Scott & Staff agents yarded 2970 steers, heifers and cows and calves.
Agents said several larger annual drafts helped boost numbers, with steers selling to a top price of $2770 a head and heifers reaching $2570.
Feeder steers made from 500-540 cents a kilogram, while backgrounding cattle sold for 550-560c/kg.
The best cows and calves made $3535.
