Weaner prices rocketed at the inaugural Victorian Livestock & Property weaner sale at Yea on Wednesday.

Prices were up a steady 20-30 cents a kilogram on the marker laid down at sales at Wodonga and Wangaratta on Monday and Tuesday.

For a 300-kilogram calf, the price jump equated to almost a $100 a head difference.

VLP agents yarded 3625 weaner steers and heifers, with several top-quality drafts offered up by producers from the district.
