Yea’s store cattle market has come off the boil, with restockers reluctant to push past $2000 for calves as El Niño fears dampen buying confidence.

Still good but not as great as a month ago was the verdict for store cattle prices at Yea on Friday, as feedlot buyers pulled back and younger steers to restockers followed the softer trend.
The yarding was led by a laneway of heavy feeder steers as the shift away from growing bullocks out in the hills of Yea continues.
Prices reached a top of $3110 for a pen of 15 Angus steers from vendor Broderick that had a displayed weight of 606kg and were the heaviest in the yarding, working out to 513c/kg liveweight.
