Vale Don Lawson OAM

The cattle industry in the Murrindindi Shire was so very fortunate to have Don establish Lawson Angus at his property Ythanbrae, at Murrindindi and bring such a focus on breeding excellence and quality to our region.

Don was passionate about the need for greater support for mental health, agricultural education for the younger generation, improving the Angus breed, genetics and performance data recording.

Don was also a great activist in fighting against policies he believed were wrong, such as the government’s method of eradication of Johne’s Disease, and the North-South Pipeline. When Don took a position on a topic, he stood his ground, and articulated his beliefs to all who had the time to listen.

I’m sure many people will miss Don’s phone calls and conversations to catch up and give his opinion and perspective on a wide-ranging number of subjects.
