Agent Comments:
The June store sale at Yea Saleyards 2 June saw 1,342 head of cattle yarded in what was a reasonably wintery yarding of cattle.
All usual buyers were in attendance in addition to Ben Davies from Thomas Food International, buying for their Southern Cross Feedlot at Tintinara SA, who purchased some 170 cattle for that operation.
The top pen of the day were 30 angus steers on account of local vendor Peter Ingham of the “Grange”, Murrindindi – these steers weighed 467 kgs and made $1,740.
Usual commission buyers Campbell Ross and Duncan Brown put a good steady floor in the market which could be described as being firm to slightly dearer than previous sales held within the last fortnight. The most noticeable improvement was seen on the lighter end of the heifers which could have been $100 – $150 dearer than previous sales.
