A shortage of feeder-weight cattle in Victoria has driven a consecutive rise in store sale prices at Yea as young steers sold beyond 490 cents a kilogram.

Agents yarded 3000 cattle for the monthly store sale at the Yea saleyards, marking the facility's last winter market for 2024.

A feature draft of the sale was a consignment of 278 steers offered by Malcom and Kerry Bishop, Werai Station, Deniliquin, NSW.

The draft, aged 10-11 months, included 20, 309 kilogram, steers which made $1370 or 443c/kg.
