Local vendors have praised the decision by Gippsland agents, Alex Scott & Staff to set up a stand-alone monthly store sale at Yea.
ASC yarded 983 head of cattle at the Yea saleyards.
ASC Pakenham livestock manager David Setches said it had been 30 years since the company had sold cattle at Yea - moving away from the area to concentrate on Pakenham.
"We didn't really have a big following up here, but now Pakenham has closed, it's forced our hand to come this way," he said.
He rated the sale as a "real success", with support from RMA Network agents, as well as Elders and Nutrien agents.
